Individual Therapy

Individual therapy offers a steady place to slow down, understand what is happening inside you, and try new ways of responding. I work with adults, and with children and adolescents alongside their families, facing:

  • Anxiety & stress
  • Depression
  • Grief & loss
  • Life transitions
  • Relationship patterns
  • Trauma & difficult histories
  • Self-worth
  • Work & family balance

Couples Therapy

Most couples who come to therapy are caught in a cycle: one partner reaches, the other withdraws, and both end up feeling alone. Together we slow that cycle down, name the needs underneath it, and practice new ways of turning toward each other.

Couples therapy can help with frequent conflict, emotional distance, recovering from a betrayal, navigating a major decision, or simply wanting a stronger foundation.

Parents & Families

Parenting is one of the most meaningful and most demanding relationships there is. Using the Circle of Security model, I help parents understand what their child needs underneath difficult behavior and how to respond in ways that build security.

  • Parents of infants, young children, and teens
  • Co-parents navigating separation or divorce
  • Foster, kinship, and adoptive families
  • Parents who want to parent differently than they were parented

Substance Use Concerns

If you are wondering whether your drinking or drug use has become a problem, or you are worried about someone you love, I offer a respectful, nonjudgmental place to take an honest look. Together we can clarify what is happening, explore your options, and build a plan that fits your goals, including support for family members.

Substance Use Evaluations

I provide comprehensive substance use evaluations for individuals, attorneys, courts, and agencies. An evaluation includes a clinical interview, standardized screening instruments, and review of relevant records, and results in a written report with clear findings and recommendations.

Evaluations may be requested for personal clarity, for treatment planning, or for legal, employment, or licensing matters. Please email me to discuss what you need and the timeline involved.

Expert Witness & Legal Consultation

I have been qualified as an expert witness in Juvenile and Domestic Relations and Circuit Courts across Virginia in the areas of:

  • Child development
  • Attachment & trauma
  • Foster care & adoption
  • Family reunification
  • Substance use disorders

I work with attorneys, guardians ad litem, departments of social services, and CASA programs, offering:

  • Expert testimony in court and depositions
  • Records review and case consultation
  • Translating attachment research into clear, practical terms for the court
  • Training for judges, attorneys, social workers, and CASA volunteers

To protect the integrity of both roles, expert witness services are kept separate from therapy, and I do not serve as an expert witness for my own therapy clients. Please email me with the case type, timeline, and hearing dates, and see my CV for my qualifications.
