Fees
Current fees for therapy sessions and evaluations are provided when you schedule, along with your Good Faith Estimate. Fees are reviewed annually, and current clients receive at least 30 days notice of any change.
Expert witness and court-related services
Court-related consultation, preparation for testimony, travel, and time in court (on the stand or in a witness waiting room, in person or virtual) are billed hourly according to the current rate schedule, which is provided with the retainer agreement.
Payment is due at the time of service. I accept cash, checks, credit cards, and electronic payment.
Insurance
I do not accept or bill insurance, and all services are private pay. However, many insurance plans with out-of-network mental health benefits reimburse part of the cost of therapy. On request, I can provide a superbill (a detailed statement of services) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Before starting, you may want to call your insurance company and ask:
- Does my plan include out-of-network mental health benefits?
- What is my deductible, and how much of it has been met?
- What percentage of the fee will be reimbursed per session?
- Is pre-authorization required?
Cancellations
Your appointment time is reserved for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give at least 24 hours notice. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed, may be charged the full session fee.
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. If you do not have insurance, or you are not using insurance, health care providers are required to give you an estimate of the expected charges for services.
You can ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
